Hello, I'm Carme, a psychologist and design enthusiast in general.
My journey in the 3Drum project dates back a few years, when I started a pre-work skills workshop with a group of young people with functional diversity. Until now, none of them had had opportunities to train in any field after compulsory education, much less for a paid activity.
Let's say that they were part of that group of people whom our educational and labor systems exclude - in reality we could say that society in general - or who, at most, relegate to occupational employment centers, to specific training that have no take into account neither their interests nor their potential talent or, what is worse, to live dependently and on their family, without studying or working, increasing the number of places in day or residential centers.
But I only saw young people with undiscovered potential, eager to do something that really motivated them. And that's how it all began. Exploring their strengths and interests, it was agreed that they were all passionate about art, design, spontaneous creation and... we got to work, working hard, but at the same time having a lot of fun.
They learned to use different graphic design programs, which we combined with manual execution. My role simply consisted of providing the necessary methodological and access adaptations, and motivating them to continue learning. The most important thing of all was getting them to believe in themselves, that they could do important things.
And, after a few years we thought, why not become professional and take the leap into the world of work. We had much more to gain than lose. This is how 3drum was born.
All designs are made by them, they are genuine and totally personal. My role is to stimulate them, guide them and give them technical support when necessary, or adjust the designs to the relevant formats and parameters to be printed and marketed. But the design is theirs, truly original. Each of the components of 3drum has its own personality and all of them are great talents. Their inspiration comes mainly from themselves, and that has great value.
Between them and I we carry out collaborative work where each one contributes what they know best.
The entire group wants to be successful in this exciting adventure that is 3drum, and we would love to grow in the future, incorporating new talents that can only emerge if they are given an opportunity.
